The Americas
“It is more important than ever before to conduct comprehensive risk analysis against our projects. Materialized risks in the current economic climate of volatility and uncertainty will require realignment against the value drivers and business case.”
Aziz Meleka, Regional PMO Lead, Americas

Overview of the region
In 2021, each of the North American economies – the USA, Canada and Mexico – grew strongly following the dramatic slowdown of 2020.
According to the IMF, growth in the South American countries slowed by an estimated 7 percent in 2020 and recovered by 6.8 percent in 2021. Higher commodity prices, stronger international trade and a benign financing environment helped boost their recovery
What our index tells us about the region
The following shows the top 10 most expensive locations in the region. The majority of these are corporate downtown office locations, with the base assumptions are that leased spaces are within multi-tenanted Grade A sustainable office buildings, and in a CBD area of the city, where labour costs are generally high, and construction activities are restricted to non-business hours.
The complete ranking at-a-glance of all locations within the Americas portfolio is provided in the bubble diagram below, and both archetypes have been combined for this snapshot.
Moving to the IT & AV costs, the map below shows the average cost by country, with costs in South America higher with its geographic distinction from North America with Houston as the nearest hub.
